What is MailChimp?
MailChimp is an email marketing tool that helps you manage your mailing lists, design bullet-proof emails, and track the results of your email campaigns.
MailChimp is typically used for creating email newsletters or advertisements that people opt-in to receive, often by entering their email address into a form on your website.
You can integrate MailChimp with your social media channels and your applications to collect contacts for your lists of recipients. If you sell products through DuckSell, all customers will get added to your MailChimp list automatically.
No more spam
Emails sent by this service on your behalf comply with anti-spam regulations, which is important to reduced the chance that your messages will be filtered into spam. You can use their analytics to determine the effectiveness of your marketing campaign so you can optimize your future messages.
Fun to use
MailChimp is fun. It’s the kind of email service that makes you want to sign up. In fact, MailChimp is the first email marketing provider I ever used. it’s colorful, friendly, and fun. They have a chimp at the top of each page with funny sayings in a quote bubble. The service comes loaded with free templates and it integrates easily with other services such as PayPal, ZenDesk, Salesforce, DuckSell, Facebook and Twitter. They also have an “auto-responder” feature to time-delay messages to users after they join your list.
Free or paid?
MailChimp is free up to 2,000 subscribers. If you are ever going to have more than 2,000 subscribers (and I hope you do!), you will be paying for MailChimp, so make sure you give it a thorough comparison. You may think “I can always switch to a different paid provider if I max out MailChimp’s free plan.” You can. And it will be a huge headache and you will almost definitely loose subscribers. Pick a provider you can commit to for the long haul. If that’s MailChimp, even better since it’s free at first.
As a small business owner, I find MailChimp a simple and perfect solution. Overall, this service offers a lot of features and functions for an email marketing service. MailChimp makes email marketing enjoyable for everyone from beginners to experienced email marketers. The reporting features are helpful and the help and support options are useful but as others will point out, it’s not for everyone, especially larger businesses.
Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated.
